Our Story
Tiny homes for big Kiwi dreams
Kiwi entrepreneur and investor, the late John St Clair Brown, founded Coastal Cabins (now St Clair Homes) in 2018 on a simple premise – to make a meaningful impact on New Zealand’s housing crisis by providing affordable, quality tiny homes at scale. Our mission is to help Kiwis realise their tiny home dream.
Based on simple functional designs, St Clair Homes are built from quality materials by skilled craftspeople; transportable homes large enough for a small family, yet small enough for an individual to maintain. With two distinct product ranges: Coastal Cabins (affordable quality) and Evoke (affordable luxury) St Clair Homes are priced to be affordable no matter what budget.
From the beginning, our focus has been on giving those most in need the opportunity and dignity of renting and/or owning their own quality home. We call our cabins tiny homes because that’s what they are to our customers – homes.
St Clair Homes currently constructs 10 to 15 cabins a month across the North Island. Located at Silverdale, the business has its own design and manufacturing division with a passionate team of over 30 people and prides itself on controlling design and quality from the outset. Our goal is simple: to be the leading manufacturer and provider of tiny homes in New Zealand.
